Liverpool were expected to undergo a massive rebuild in the summer.

And, while four new players were brought through the Anfield doors, a lot of Liverpool's supporters expected many different changes across every area of their squad.

Of course, the arrivals of Ronald Araujo and Jeremy Jacquet have already had a huge impact on the way that things have panned out but, if there were one or two more players brought in, things would have probably been a lot better for them.

Indeed, Andoni Iraola still needs to get his men in line and used to his style of playing but, trying to instil that into a bunch of new players rather than ones who were already there and who have already played in a certain way for so long is probably much easier.

So, the fact that only four players were signed by Liverpool in summer took fans aback.

Obviously, the winter window is the next one up and even more change is expected to take place there with some of Liverpool's first-team squad already being linked with a move away.

One deal that Liverpool will have been happy to get over the line in summer will have been Alisson 's contract extension .

The 34-year-old is one of the Reds' longest-serving players and, although he's now entering the twilight stages of his career, he's still easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
