The eighth week of results in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga saw SK Sturm Graz drop into second place as tenacious Austria Wien broke Graz’s unbeaten run in the 2026/27 season.

There were 13 goals across the five action-packed fixtures this week, with none of them ending in a draw.

SKN St. Pölten now sit top of the Bundesliga, a familiar sight across the last decade. SK Sturm Graz drop to second place with another tough fixture awaiting them as they prepare to travel to new leaders Pölten. Südburgenland remain bottom of the table as their chances of staying in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga get more unlikely each week.

Two of the leagues biggest heavyweights finally faced each other in this high pressure fixture. Sturm Graz started the fixture top of the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga but didn’t have enough to stop reigning champions Austria Wien from taking a 2-0 victory back to the capital.

Austrian legend Carina Wenninger scored both of the away sides goals. Graz suppressed the Austria Wien pressure until late in the game with Wenninger’s first goal arriving in the 76th minute. Wenninger latched onto a loose ball following a save from Sarah-Lisa Dübel and fired it home make it 0-1.

Austria Wien kept the pressure on Graz despite their lead and bagged a second goal through Wenninger just before the final whistle in the second minute of added time. Almedina Šišić did some great work creating space in the Graz half and her speculative cross found the opportunistic Wenninger, who tapped it home again to make the score 0-2.

The league table is now a little more open for Austria Wien who, despite staying still in third place, have stolen vital points from a team above them. Tode Djakovic’s Sturm Graz drop to second in the table. Pölten are now the only unbeaten team in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga.
