Serie A side Roma have had a very good season so far and the same is true for Paulo Dybala too. This is the best start to a campaign the attacking midfielder has made in his career from a statistical point of view and manager Gian Piero Gasperini has revealed what has helped his turnaround.

The Italian was present at the Festival Dello Sport event and he addressed a host of issues involving Roma.

Gasperini said that the club discovered a fitness issue involving his muscles. Resolution of that has been a game-changer.

He said : “He’s off to a great start, he’s enthusiastic and strong. There were years when he was physically frail and held him back, and I always thought it was a training issue.”

Further, Gasperini made it clear that his training has now been altered and it has played a role in Dybala being more available.

“Everyone told me he had silky muscles, but I discovered he has a unique fiber structure, and with the right training, he’s proven to be a healthy and capable player. Proof of what I always say: training is crucial. And now he’s back to sprinting, beating opponents, and soon we’ll see him back to shooting from outside like in the old days.”

The 32-year-old has played Serie A games this season, notching up four assists.

His partnership with Donyell Malen has been particularly impressive, as the Dutchman’s ability to run ruthlessly in behind complements Dybala very well.
