In a recent report , fussball-news.de claimed that Arsenal are in the running to sign Real Sociedad defender Jon Martin. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are facing competition from Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the race to land the Spanish talent next year.

Martin has made a solid start to this campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays at the heart of Real Sociedad’s backline. The 20-year-old has made seven appearances for the Spanish club so far this season across multiple competitions.

The talented youngster is currently among the most gifted young centre-backs in La Liga. Hence, the Gunners would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2032, which could make it tough for Arsenal to land him on a cut-price deal this January or at the end of this season.

Martin is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a good passer as well from the back.

Standing at 1.87m, the Spanish sensation can use his strong 1.87m frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. Martin has proven himself to be a consistent performer in La Liga. However, the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to get him on board in 2027.

We can expect Martin to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming years.
