Bayern Munich have reportedly identified a surprise Premier League target as they plan for life after Manuel Neuer, with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on their 2027 shortlist.

The claim comes from journalist Alan Nixon, with Bayern reportedly gathering background information on the 32-year-old England international. Vincent Kompany has apparently used his contacts to collect reports on Pickford as Bayern assess their next number one.

Bayern’s timing makes sense. Neuer signed a contract extension in May that runs until 30 June 2027, and the veteran goalkeeper has suggested this season could be his last. Jonas Urbig remains part of Bayern’s goalkeeping group, yet Bayern could still seek an experienced replacement for Europe.

Everton have given Pickford a contract until June 2029, after extending his previous agreement by two years in October 2025. Salary estimates place his gross fixed earnings at around £150,000 a week for 2026-27.

For Bayern, the attraction would be clear. Pickford brings extensive Premier League experience, 78 England caps and years of Champions League ambition, and his current form has strengthened his case. He has started all five league matches this season, recording three clean sheets and an 83.3 per cent save rate.

Everton have plenty of reason to resist. David Moyes’ side began the campaign unbeaten, collecting two wins and three draws from their first five league games. Pickford has become a central figure at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and Everton would face a serious sporting problem if they lost him before or during the 2027 campaign.

Pickford’s age could make the move especially interesting. At 32, he would offer Bayern an established goalkeeper rather than another developmental project, while a long-term contract at Everton would give the Merseyside club real leverage in any negotiations.
