Manchester City have been found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s all but one Financial Fair Play rules following a verdict by an independent panel, according to the Athletic . The Mancunian club have been charged with violating 114 of 115 of the Premier League FFP regulations, but official sanctions are yet to be determined.

However, Man City remain determined to prove their innocence, and the formal process regarding their breaches remain ongoing. The guilty verdict comes after an investigation into reported breaches were conducted between 2009 and 2018. During that period, Man City won three Premier League titles. However, it remains to be seen whether the Mancunian club get stripped of any of silverware once a verdict is reached.

Manchester United finished in second place twice in Man City ‘s Premier League title-winning seasons between 2009 and 2018. Hence, the Red Devils would be eagerly waiting for any official announcements regarding Man City’s FFP breach in the future.

Man United could potentially be awarded two league titles, which would take their total tally to 22. If that were to happen, the club’s fans would once again have the bragging rights when settling the most successful team in England debate as they would have an unprecedented 20 titles to their name.

Manchester United have every reason to be optimistic about their chances of securing two more titles if the Premier League decide to come down heavy on Man City following their FFP breaches.

The fact that Man City have been found guilty of violating all but one FFP regulations, could see them get severely punished. However, whether it will be just a heavy points deduction this season or a relegation verdict to the lower leagues of English football remains to be seen.

Either way, Man United should appeal to overturn two of their runners-up finishes in the Premier League between 2009 and 2018. The Red Devils have a proud history, and such an appeal would only add to their allure and prestige in the future.
